Good place to work for. I like how this company has the 6 core values. The wages are excellent for the positions. The k matching program is awesome. Pros 30 minute breaks, k, health insurance. Management and promotionally challenged. Productivity changed. No special accommodations are considered for people with disabilities. Most of the managers act superior and ultimately Human Resources is not there to assist the employee but to assist the corporate level. You will loose your job as special accommodations are not made for the disabled.
Pros Fun group at entryway level. Cons No special accommodations for disable employees, poor senior management and HR group. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No. Good job to work at if your starting off in the workforce. Flexible schedules especially if you are attending school, this job gives you a great opportunity to do both.
Pros Flexible schedule, Friendly Coworkers. Cons Pay, Can be very slow in the evening time. Very bad company to work for, do not waste your time. A very high turnover rate in the managers and employees that been there for years will not help you very unsatisfied. I can only speak for my location, but I love it! I love my job. I was hired as a cashier, but I wanted to learn and do more and they allowed me to do so. I cant stay in one spot for too long but with working here, they are very lax and chill, but still able to get work done.
Easy interview process. Here they always make sure you get your two 15 min breaks and 30 min lunch. Customers are good for the most part. Incentives available for most positions if you get someone to apply for a credit card or sell any extended warranties.
Management like every other place, workplace culture is phenomenal. At my location, most times there aren't really any customers so never really hectic. Pros Favorite coworkers by far, decent management, good breaks, have any question most managers are more than willing to help etc. Cons slow times.
Inside Sales Representative Work from Home. This job makes it easy to go to work, I always have a good time. Management makes working so easy. Pros Surprise lunches.
Cons Standing a lot. Fun people, decent management, supervisors micro manage team leads to much and allow for long term employees get their way, even when it's not convenient for the team lead trying to run the line efficient. Pros Pay, work hours, advancement opportunity. Cons Sometimes they are not prepared enough for changes, or make to many changes at one time. Pros Only thing good about this job was the guys I worked with, I will forever appreciate them to the fullest.
Cons Management, standing around for hours if not days without nothing to do, no appreciation. Great business model, ability to run your store as your own business. Build and support a great team and you will have a good outcome l, wish I never left.
Pay scale is ridiculous. A full time position only pays about 11 to 12 per hour. The raises are miniscule and chances for better pay are extremely limited.
Management is ineffective and unsupportive. Pros Not many. Cons Heavy work, poor pay. Smaller family run business. Lacks many of the advancements and culture of a larger company. Offered no flexibility for time, very rigid work schedule. Pros Free tool rentals. Cons Ridgid work schedule.
Unorganized company, nobody will help you to carry heavy stuff, they just leave every stuff for you to clean and organized, favoritism, they always see if you are late while I came earlier than other but they don't question him.
Pros Nothing. Cons Only one break. Call center work.. Call center work dealing with rude customers for 10 hours a day. Answering phones and taking orders. Can be decent money if you buy into the sales pitch. Would not recommend. Pros Work from home. Cons Micro management. Absolute worst company to work for!
I can not put into words how terrible this job was. It mentally was a painful place to work. One nice manager and terrible Corporate office. You would be happier working at a gas station. I just had a conversation with someone who worked in the terrible work environment and felt compelled to share my bad experience. It really was shameful how employees were treated like a number and what there stats were. Cons The entire job and company. Shame on them. Yes There are 5 helpful reviews 5 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1.
First year was good, I actually really liked my job then. After management changed everything went downhill fast. Customers used to comment on the amount of yelling going on so. The expectations from Corp could never be fulfilled because you are a part of less than ten people including management to do absolutely everything, carts, sales, cashier, sales, cleaning, warehouse, stocker, training, receiving, cycle counts, merchandiser, signs. They will not hire out for any cleaning or repairs, ie forklift maintenance, bathroom cleaning, floors, windows etc.
The store is very very dirty and constantly behind on new displays etc. This lead to countless safely issues while I was there. United States reviews. Ratings by category. Search reviews Search. Nothing to do a ton of pressure to sell northern tool credit cards and protection plans it was just not a fun place to work. The people were great tho. Pros Awsome friendly coworkers. Cons Everything else. Was this review helpful?
Yes No. Report Share. I am currently a cashier and this a good company to work for. The stores are ran by corporate not by a franchise. Pros Pto, K, good pay.
New upper-level management has many ambitions to grow the company. Company growth and outlook is very strong. However, headcount does not keep up with all the new initiatives, so work-life balance is difficult. Work is very busy and Northern has a long history of underpaying employees. Especially if you have been there over time raises do not equal market value of position and difficulty.
Great learning environment though. Pros Work from home philosophy has changed due to covid, much more flexibility in ability to work from home and everyone has laptops to do so if job allows , Competitive vacation time off accrued. Cons Work-life balance lacking due to not enough employees, Lower than average pay, Can be very difficult to move up.
They have a lot you have to do without the adequate training. You spend your time while being rushed by customers trying to figure out what you are supposed to do with no clear understanding of procedures or policies.
You also have very limited help and it is never detailed of the whole process to do something. Pros Benefits, nice staff. Cons Training, very frustrating and stressful work environment. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. Overall you can learn a lot about tools and equipment if you are in Sales, but commission and pay are a total joke. I worked exceptionally hard and could have made more doing just about anything else.
Pros Tools! Cons Upper Management. Job seekers rely on your experience. Good place to work for. I like how this company has the 6 core values. The wages are excellent for the positions.
