Vista paint swiss coffee
When they were young my sons wanted a teal room and a red room… I tried it and it was horrendous. I hated it the red room before I even finished painting it… and I even left the ceilings and trim white. It was just tooooo much for me. To me a home should be restful. Dark and bright colors are better for accents like pillows or lamp bases or small objects that can be moved out or changed around or replaced. How awful that room was… it never seemed warm and cozy and relaxing. Paint choices just drive me bonkers.
I am happy to take your word for it. Just as I was happy to allow the Sherwin Williams dude select the exterior door color here. And, did you do something to the pink white? Because I really can see it this time and you know what trouble I had with the pink beige.
Great advice and Dove White by BJ is one of the best whites out there. I use swiss coffee my another manufacture which is very much like Dove White and always looks fresh an warm at the same time. Thanks for the info! It is the colour of the trim throughout our house and I absolutely love it. I cannot see undertones in paint colors — which has led to some awful rooms. So, my favorite white, regardless of brand is marshmallow fluff. Amazingly enough, they usually get it right:. I really appreciate this post.
Picking a white is hard! Love the Lagoon!! I have a cream, linen and sand color scheme. I hate my Ash cabinets and want to paint so bad I dream about it in my sleep. Would the White Dove be a good choice? I am using it for my ceilings and trim throughout my apartment. Should I use the same color for white walls and white trim or should they have different undertones? Out of curiosity, about how many painting projects have you all done in the last 2 years?
I am very inexperienced and am wondering if anyone has tips on how to simplify the process my house needs a lot of work! Also, where do you buy your paint? I have the same question as Paige did. I currently have white trim and want to paint our walls white. With white, I would do the same color for both the trim and the walls. Whites can vary so much with different undertones, so they can clash pretty easily.
Good question! Hi, Dee! Finally, a post about White Dove on exterior brick with a black door! The window sashes and storms will be black, along with the double wooden doors. The window trim may go slightly deeper toned than White Dove for dimension. Would you possibly share pictures of your house with White Dove and black? I had wide trim and the darker white looked beautiful with the darker muted wall colour.
I have been painting our very old cottage in Fort Collins Colorado. With big debates about which white. I have noted our house to be 80 years old. The lounge room is small,as it is an old cottage. As I am an old painter , I can recount so many ladies requesting a darker shade of whites ,like a khaki or a tan ,or the many grays ,with a contrast White. It was either to dark or to brown or to yellow or to gray.
You would suggest a change and suggest antique white ,or cloud white. At present my two sons girl friends are requesting dark colours such as khaki or. Feel this is not a good choice in a small. Lounge room. My choice is antique white. I feel I have heard it all before. I know this is an old post. But can you please share the wall color of your bathroom in these pictures? This is an interesting discussion because the quality of the finish is determined more by prep work than paint. The most under used paint product is sandpaper. Like 44 Save. Sort by: Oldest. My professional painter just painted my entire house with Sherwin Williams Duration 2nd highest paint in their line and it is completely peeling off the walls in huge chunks.
There is an adhesion problem with this paint. There was nothing done wrong in the preparation of the walls or application. Now I am left with a damaged home and nothing is being done to make the situation right- even though SW pledges a total guarantee of customer satisfaction yah right! See the pics and decide for yourself Like 4 Save. I am a custom painter and don't waste my time with Behr paint or Lowe's. You're local hardware store paints are of no use to me either Behr wins awards because they deal with the home owner and diy'er.
The price point is more favorable for the consumer as well. Just because a label may say Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams doesn't mean you're getting top quality. They do make "contractor grade" paint which is no comparison to the higher priced paints they sell.
You DO get what you pay for. No question. Remember what you use to apply your paint have a lot to do with it as well. Like 1 Save. Related Discussions What is the best brand of exterior paint? Behr paint is available at Home Depot, many different finishes for all types of materials, both interior and exterior.
They typically have a sale on Holiday weekends--I always miss it. Goes on smoothly and lasts. Highly rated by Consumer Reports a couple of years back. From a paint store operating perspective no, I would not have retail employees giving advice in general or specifically about color selection or decorating.
There's too much liability for them. They have no way of knowing your design style, existing furnishings, accessories, natural light, spatial qualities of the room, and flow. This is why it is beneficial to hire a designer or decorator who will take the time to come to your home, get to know you, evaluate the space and consider your furnishings. Designers and decorators build relationships with their clients and by doing so can more accurately serve their clients.
My favorite has been Valspar. I used it on the exterior and interior of my last home and both versions held up great. When I had originally painted the kitchen, I couldn't get the wall behind the fridge. When we moved out, I filled in that spot and there was no discernible difference in color between the newly painted area and the rest of the kitchen that had been painted around 6 years prior.
My new house has Benjamin Moore because the painter insisted upon using it, but it doesn't cover any better than the less expensive brands. I can still see hints of old paint peeking through in some areas after two coats. So save your money and use Valspar or Behr. There's nothing magical about the more expensive lines.
I love my white cabinets. They are custom and painted with BM Decorator's White paint. For a busy family, white is an awful color. It requires constant wiping to keep clean.
Then once a month I have to clean with dawn, baking soda, and vinegar to keep them white. It is a huge job! Just had this conversation today. Benjamin Moore for colour. Take the colour chip to Sherwin Williams. They can copy it for you, as can any paint store, BUT nobody can beat the quality, durability, customer service and cost that Sherwin Williams can. Benjamin Moore spends it's money on training, promos and advertising in Canada. If you are not a pro then you pay for that.
Sherwin Williams pass those savings on to you with a better paint. No I don't work for them. I've always thought it was the prepearation that determined the success of the paint job. That's assuming a decent quality of paint.
Never could really tell a difference. Like Save. My painter wants to use Dulux - no one is mentioning here. We usually use BM but he has a contract with Dulux. Michelle 7 years ago. I always get Kelly Moore paint. They have great colors and the guys in the store are always so helpful. Prep and priming are key to getting the best out of your paint.
Susan 7 years ago. Our Sherwin Williams store is not great. I hired their crew to paint the exterior The overspray on the trim was ridiculous. They also killed one of our trees. Also, I asked them for a butterscotch color for the interior, and I got mango. It's okay, but when I realized what I had, I decided not to use the paint in every room.
They would not exchange it I have a lot of extra cans of mango paint. I was hoping to donate it to Habitat or The Restore. They won't even take it. I now use a locally owned paint store, and I am very happy with their advice on color, and color matching. Dulux - best paint ,hard wearing and covers beautifully and has an amazing range of warm whites which are clean looking- no grey tints. The walls in our house are a beautiful soft white. You can see I'm no fan of the great grey trend- or prison decorating as i like to call it.
Custom Craft Builders 7 years ago. Ben Moore hands down. We used Parker Paint on the interior of our last 3 homes with no complaints. With our current home, we broke down and hired a pro to finish painting the trim.
They insisted on using Behr. We live on an island and our choices are Ace or Rodda a local NW company. I've no experience with either of them.
I've painted with lots of the common brands and I've changed back and forth because: -formulas change and paints I used to love now are too thin -local expertise in the paint store deteriorates or gets better. Really don't like Behr ceiling.
Liked BM but not that from my local discount dealer and not worth the full price to me. Currently using top Behr for walls, and researching what to use to paint whole house full of dark stained beat up wood. Maryly 7 years ago. Mainly because their store is close to my house, and I make many, many visits there as I test and reject and test even more samples until I find the perfect color for my projects. I have been pleased with the quality of their paint. I've used Benjamin Moore, behr and sherwin Williams.
And I find behr is just as good as the others and can cost lot less. It isn't just the cost I like. I tend to use 2 coats regardless of how expensive it is. And since most place can match colors, I am not so concerned going to one place over another just because of colors.
